    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Not to sound too stupid, but I'm assuming the '650' means 650 gph. One thing I like about the quiet one brand is it shows flow loss per foot of head height. I rather liked that. I'll still have less than 2' of headheight but it would have been nice to see how many gph I'd be losing to rate...

Ok, I'll try the dolphin pump, but the 650 is on sale right now and so the coupon for 5% off doesn't apply. I think it'll still register as the sale coming from this website though.

    Armnhammer for Alk?

What about Arm&Hammer deoderant? Anyone use this? I hear it's better than other brands b/c it doesn't use a form of aluminium which may be related to Alzimers (no shit).

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

I was blessed with a ton of patience. Besides, I've had a lot of time to learn what it is I want to do with this tank, what my restrictions are and how I screwed everything up so badly back in college. Setting up a tank like this takes alot of time anyway as you can't rush it. But damn if I...

    My 2.5 gallon. Any ideas?

Aren't seahorses damn near impossible to keep?

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

I was thinking of getting a 5gal tank to act as a fuge that'll go above my tank. I don't want to do a sump at this point b/c of cost. I'll maybe do a fuge in 6months or so. I'm thinking of getting a 1000gph pump w/ a 3' head height, that'll go through the SCWD which splits the flow into...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

SCWD is rated upto 1400gph. Got that covered. I will have to buy a bigger pump. I just got the dimensions back from my tank guy, we're going to go with a tall tank of 20" so that'll put me just shy of 40gal. Bigger than I had wanted but otherwise I'd only have 12" viewable due to the stand...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

I think you're right about the gph, methinks my pump is too small. I was worried about that. I'll have to reval everything. I hadn't planned on putting in any 90's. Not sure about the SCWD's, I'll check tonight.

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

I spoke with Nate today at AquaticsWareshouse and it looks like I'll have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to have a custom tank made. Major bummer as I'd have liked to have it sooner but what are ya gonna do? At least it'll be a perfect fit and the acrylic will allow me more flexibility in building the...

Newbie saying hello, oh and a couple of ??

Read all the posts you can to get a feel for what it is you're jumping into. Realize the cost can be high even for such a small tank and realize that you will have to put in daily/weekly maintence. Plus alot of advice ingeneral can be applied to nano's so just read read read read read.

I just drew this up, I don't have Acad at home so please deal with my MS Paint version How's that for water flow? The water movement will be from left to right as the SCWD changes. Are four heads too many? Could I get just adequent flow and movement from 2 heads?

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

After thinking about it all morning my brain has been going full tilt for awhile. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with a custom built (for sizing purposes) acrylic tank. So then knowing it's acrylic I started rethinking my entire draining/flow idea since I plan on using a 300gph pump w/ a...

    Calculators

Conn, You should add some calculators, both to determine # lbs required of live sand @ a specified depth and footprint. Plus generic calculators to find volume of tanks etc... I was about to do some calculations and now I realize I have to go to another site to get those. One stop shopping!

    Lights for a 30gal?

Hey folks, got a question for you. I've got a 30-35gal tank (for more info check under Phischy's Project in the 20gal section) and the ballast I have is a sea clear power compact 2x 55watts. I plan on setting up a reef tank however I do not intend to house the harder to keep species. Both...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Got the stand in last night. It's georgous! One problem, Pops read my dimensions wrong and it's 1/2" too narrow. So this means I'm going to sell my all glass aquarium and I'm going to have to find one that's less than 36" wide, instead of the 36 1/2" I have. I'm not really worried about it...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Ok, I'll have to do that then. Probably means I won't do it while the rents are in town, or maybe I will?!?! They're past Tuscon now, about 5-6hrs away. Hot water, vinegar and a leak check all at the same time. I can dig it. Next big thing is figuring out what sort of lights I bought and...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Here's another question: In prepping my tank, #1 make sure it still holds water w/ no leaks. This tank is older and has been sitting dry for the past 4 years. I used to have problems with pink spooge slime, is there anyway that crap could have survived in a dry environment for four years...

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Actually I hadn't heard that before. So when I add live sand/rock, I should run the skimmer full bore, do a weekly 5gal water change and almost cover the tank? Or will I kill off beneficial algea in the process? I will have to cure whatever it is I'm putting in but I do hope to put in...

    Good movies

I've heard a ton about that movie and it is one that I want to see. I was trying to think of it earlier but obviously I didn't think too hard. It is defintely a 'sleeper' movie that is really good. Is it still even in the theaters?

    Phischy's Project-3days to start

Yes he does. They've begun the haul from Who-ston to Sandy Eggo, once they get here he and I will have to mount the lights and then I'll start working on getting the pump/water flow configuration figured out while I start chatting with nate and running numbers for live rock/sand. Woot woot! I...
