Lace Rock a Good Base Rock?

I'm upgrading from a 10 gal. with 13lbs. of LR to a 20L. I have a bunch of lace rock laying around from my cichlid tank that isn't being used bc I use it to add to the tank when I remove existing rock to bleach it annually. Could I use a few lbs. of the lace rock in the tank as base rock and...

Encouraging Ocellaris Clownfish pair to host an anenome

Mine host in an area that is 1/2 GSP and 1/2 Yellow Colony Polyps... It's right where the moonlight shines onto the tank. I did that bc I read somewhere that a more direct moonlight gets them "inspired". I put it on it.... and voila... polyp hosting.

    Hair algae? Please say no.

I would stress too much. Deal with the majano... otherwise, increase WC's and test your source water for phosphate and nitrogenous waste (Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates), just to be sure you're not introducing ickies.

By all that I know, Prime takes care of the Chloramines. Says so on the bottle... Now, if I'm wrong, or if they're liars... flame away.

My First Pico.. An Updated Document

Looks like bristles to me. There's much debate on bristles. I love them, others hate them. If you have them, wear gloves when you go messing around in there. They can hurt you if they're fireworms (a type of bristle).

    Is your tap safe???

My fishstore, at least, mixes at 1.024. For my SW tanks, I keep the SG at 1.026, so, even if I bought their (EXPENSIVE) SW, I'd still have to buy some mix to raise the SG.

For just the basic algae removal, I use my old Wachovia (walk all over ya) Check card cut in half. If it's the hard stuff (ie. corraline on the front glass) then I break out the razor blade. With the razor blade, make sure to avoid your silicone or it could be UGLY. For the nitrates, maybe...

    Is your tap safe???

I'm just trying to stimulate a healthy discussion versus some of the negative non-sense I've seen elsewhere on here. I do regularly test my tap water with whatever tests I get my hands on. Where would I find a copper test kit? I really doubt some dummy would use it on my system bc of the...

    Is your tap safe???

After some reading... I would think that in systems that have RO from the tap, less copper piping is probably used since RO will eat copper lines. I've looked in my attic and I don't have any copper piping, and I'm thinking that might be a code thing in areas with RO water from the tap. What...

    Is your tap safe???

Ok, so the debate should be kept respectful. Present an argument for or against... but realize that not everyone agrees with you... and results may vary. In general, I ignore the bashing against tap water folks like me. Frankly, I like coastal living bc I get RO desalinated water from the...
