it might be due to the salinity, i had the same problem. my rics dont like the high salinity, so i lowered it and they look great. but on the other hand it might of been the extra water changes to lower it. not sure what it was but it helped.

well man your tank is in need of some serious help, before you put a MH light over it. that algae growth is out of control. are you doing any waterchanges? is your tank still cycling? what kind of maintenance are you doing?

not sure exactly but 19.5 sounds good to me. if your corals start to look unhealthy move it up higher.

seahorses are pretty difficult to keep, not a beginner inhabitant. they have alot of special needs. as for fish capibility, not sure. there is a guide in the reef fish section that will help.

distilled water will be fine for top offs. i personally dont add anything to my top off water but you can use a pH buffer to raise it. your evap is normal, especially since your topless. your house or a;t. is probably really dry thats why your evap is high. i go through a gallon every three...

glad to hear they have recovered. you said they took mysis, its cool that they are eating but you know you dont have to feed them.

i have had great growth no matter what the situation is....frequint water changes, "dirty water", high current, low current, low light, high light, ect..

i have shrimp in my tank and it doesnt seem to both my rics. im sure they just have to acclimate back to normal.

this might sound stupid but i dont see a leather in that pic. are you sure its coming from the leather. i have never heard of leathers having sweeper tenticles.

what size tank? probably a nano, so scratch the tang(large set-up fish), seahorses(can be difficult to keep), and youll either want just the damsels or the clown(both can be very territorial. HTH
