    new biocube 29 help!

Have you checked inside the powerhead? The tube on the bottom is known for sucking in fish. If not chances are your hermits have already cleaned up the mess and you may not find the leftovers, unless it went carpet surfing that is. Damsels are known for their aggression and even one has a...

    cloudy water...

That's a really small picture but from what I can see there isn't alot of rock in there. Generally when the bacteria populate the sand they weigh it down enough to be brought to the bottom of the water column. It may still happen in time if you don't have the suggested amount of liverock...

New 12 Gallon Aquapod -- Why are my snails dying?

You shouldn't be buying any livestock, including clean up crew, while the tank is cycling. Chances are that the snails were hunted while the lights were out or at very least eaten then. Hermits are opportunistic hunters and a snail is easy pry, especially one that is either dead or dying. If...

    My tanks. [pics]

Cool rockwork. How do you like the black sand? Some people love it and others hate it but it is different for a reef. Careful of those yellow polyps they can get out of hand very quickly.

    Metal Halide Lighting

So true but that what 14K is "suppose to" be. I have had 20K's that were whiter than a 14K, they look exactly like 10K.

Then you want a 14K lamp.

    New Cadlights 34G with pics

In time it'll come, but it'll feel like forever watching a 'tank of water' lol. Good thing it's not in a wavemaker setup. The 6025 's life is drastically reduced as it wasn't designed for that. Just an FYI in case you didn't already know, the term cured or cycled liverock is a bit...

    Metal Halide Lighting

If you don't want the Viper I'd look into the Sunpod.

    New Cadlights 34G with pics

Oh I forgot, It looks like it'll be a very nice setup when it matures, very good start. Can't wait to see this tank grow.

    New Cadlights 34G with pics

Invest in a turkey baster and blow off those rocks. I see substrate on them and they need to be unplugged to allow water to reach the low oxygen zones within it. Is that the 6055? Are you using the Reefkeeper2 and the nanostream as a wavemaker? I hope you have (if I remember right) 2 min off...

    Yellow Eyed Tang

I knew that kole tangs are also called yellow eyed tangs and the basic info I provided. I did look up the latin name though. Not much good if you googled a misspelled word. :-)

    Yellow Eyed Tang

Ctenochaetus strigosus is the proper name but it is also known as a kole tang. It is from Hawaii and should really be housed in a 75g or larger tank. Grows to be ~5-7" long and likes to swim. It's less aggressive than most tangs but will still fight with it's own kind.

Nanotuners 3x24w PC lighting question for BioCube14

Do you like a white, blue, or a white with a hint of blue tank? Colour is personal taste but something like 2 50/50 and an 03 may be something to look at if you like the bluer look. 10-12 hours is plenty.

    Tunze skimmer question.

Sorry got sidetracked when posting, lol. I see skimmers as a tool. They have their place in nanos if the setup and coral selection deems necessary, but there is a balancing act. I have SPS so water quality is very important and fouling the water is very easy in a 12g tank. With a skimmer I...

    Tunze skimmer question.

I've written up the code for a calculator for this over at aquariumpros.ca, here's the link (if mods feel that this is inappropriate please feel free to remove it) Drain and overflow calculator. Just enter in the amount of flow that will be going through it and it'll tell you the length you'll...

    My 12g NanoCube

Yep and I'm running a Giesemann 20K lamp.

    Show and Tell, anyone?

Thanks. It was an oddity, never gasped or anything just puckered. My favourite coral has to be my green kenya but maybe that's because it gives me the hardest time, lol. johnanddawn, what temperature of lighting are you using? Looks like a 14K but with cameras you never know.

    BIOCUBE LIGHTING

IME PC's have a ~9 month life so it could be time. The lamps have to be matched to the ballast so simply put you're stuck without modifying the hood and adding in lamps.

    Show and Tell, anyone?

Here are some of my fav macro shots with a P&S camera (good macros with a DSLR is just cheating, lol). But I love my mushroom puckering up

    Tunze skimmer question.

Sorry about being misleading, I've got a thread here on my tank (well the one I've been reduced to, had 5 nano's/pico's). This is for my nanocube so enlarging anything isn't an option. I have the 'sump' on the left chamber (wall between 1&2 removed) and the fuge on the right. I'm in process of...
