HEY SKIP! I saw my blue banded coral shrimp today for the first time!!!! It's been four weeks, and I barely saw his claw darting in and out of a cave a few times, but there can be no denying it is alive and well!!!

You know... I *thought* I saw something funky on the back wall of the tank a while back. If it was this little dude, then he has doubled in size. I am 99.9% certain this is some kind of nudibranch (possibly an aeolid), I see em all the time diving, even out here in the cold waters of the PNW...

While they are similar... they are definitley not the same. Acrylic is stronger and holds up better over time. According to Marc, from Melev's Reef... "Plexiglas ages, turns yellow, gets brittle, and cracks. Acrylic is harder, and you can buy various thicknesses."

acrylic or plexiglass, drty? Aren't they two very different things? How solid are those fittings? Has it worked out well for you?

Did you use glass on the inside? Or plex/acrylic? Did you glue it with silicone? Or something beefier? I probably will pester you with questions. I am doing a small one (10 gal) for a 29 gal tank, partially because I think it will be great for the tank, partially because it's a learning...

Fred is toast. The water in his specimen container was pretty badly fouled this morning, and it wasn't from the nori... (peeeeeeeee-yew!) There is no suction from his foot, and when I jiggle the container, an off-color substance is coming out from under his shell. I'm guessing that's Fred...

I think I might be losing fred. He fell off the glass tonight and did not want to reattach. He's been very inactive for the past week, so I don't really know what's up. I am going to isolate him and put some nori on a clip for him, cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Why not just use LR for biological filtration?

With a 10 gallon tank, you probably should NEVER buy an anemone.
