    DIY Powerhead / Locline Modification

The second step was to remove the exhaust port. Be careful to measure this and not cut off too much. The locline adapter will be modified and glued on to this stub. Just remember, it's always easier to go back and cut off more.

    DIY Powerhead / Locline Modification

So, when I set up my 29 gallon reef, I had issues with current. I had a lot of it, and it was really blasting my livestock. It is my own personal opinon that although 10x is a minimum rule of thumb, the smaller the tank - the harder it is to pull this off. In my case, I have 2 Aqua Clear 50...

    Feeding Corals, Specifically Frogspawn

Another thing about this... I have a smaller tank - 29 gallons. So I am very concerned about overfeeding and polluting this tank.

    Feeding Corals, Specifically Frogspawn

When I bought my Frogspawn, I listened to the store employee go on and on about how direct feeding was not necessary - but definitely helpful. I have a lot of suggestions on what I could use. cyclopeez, fresh hatched baby brine shrimp, chunks of silversides, and the list goes on. However...

    Firefish Question

OK, so I see in all my ID books that it says I shouldn't have two firefish at the same time unless they are paired. However, it's not really specifically answering my question, which is, can I have a regular firefish and a purple firefish? My guess is probably not - they are awfully close...

6 Line Wrasse vs. Sexy Shrimp

Hah. I have gotten really involved in my local fish club so I am posting there more frequently. Additionally, I like the podcast at Talkingreef.com so I use those forums, too. Another thing that stops me from posting here more often is the software. DJ really needs to get vBulletin running...

6 Line Wrasse vs. Sexy Shrimp

Just so all you beginners know... SIX LINE WRASSES LIKE TO EAT SEXY SHRIMP!!! No one warned me of this when I was deciding on livestock, but everyone sure seemed to know after the fact. That makes my $29 6 line a $59 fish. Dammit. I really liked those sexys, too. They were REALLY cool.

    Remora Aqua C HOB Skimmer

So, one thing I am noticing is a LOT of microbubbles. This is normal during the break in period?

    Remora Aqua C HOB Skimmer

How long does it generally take to break in? also, Does anyone have an opinion one way or another if I was considering placating the wife and putting that puppy on a timer? Maybe just not skimming at night?

    Yellow Clown Goby

Yes there is, which is what made this wierd. As soon as the fish disappeared, I had an eve on all power head intakes and the cannister intake. Very wierd.

    critters in my tank!

The slug things could be nudibranchs, which can be harmful to zoos. If you see them, suck them out with a syringe or siphon or just squish them. See this thread: http://www.nanotank.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=

    Bad sand......need help

I am going to post a question here, although I hope no one sees this as a hijack and gets offended. If so, feel free to split. So, when I started keeping reef tanks again after a 10+ year hiatus, I brought some of my old school techniques with me. 4 months later I have a successful tank...

    Yellow Clown Goby

Yellow Clown Goby : The Last Appearance OK, so I have confirmation on the clown goby and his final disposition. Man this sucked. So, today I installed an HOB skimmer. When I did that, I took apart my canister and dropped in two bags of charcoal. When I did that, I poured out the...

    Remora Aqua C HOB Skimmer

So, I finally came to the realization that with my wife Stacy due in December, finances low for various reasons and a general lack of time - mostly because of business issues - I will NOT have time to build my sump/fuge and do everything the way I want to. So, I bought a Remora Aqua C HOB...
