Hi and welcome :welcome Lighting during a cycling period is not required other than to peek inside , running your lights during cycling will fuel algea blooms .... so I would say leave em off other than to quickly peek inside :mrgreen:

When you say top off are you referring to low water levels from what you filled the tank to initally ? If so just add some fresh water either ro/di or distilled to the tank all should be fine and wont reek havoc with the levels at all or mess with the cycling process ......worry not you should...

it really is just prefrence, we run ours 24/7 because when our lites are on you don't see them till the lites are off.....there is'nt a right or wrong way to run them HTH :mrgreen:

While cutting some rock I found that the rock was infact a clam/oyster of some sort as well as a ton of starfish in em it was actually infested with em ...Hopefully you can use the photos as an educational tool of what they look like . Not to sure on the stars I am leaning to a green serpent...

if you are speaking of a product called cycle skip it it will cause algea in salt tanks time is really what you need also there is a product called birospeara that MikeG on here swears by :mrgreen:
