    20 gallon pre drilled

Sounds good to me but I have never heard of a 36"L 20g. A 20L is 30" long. Where are the holes drilled? In the back, bottom? Jesse

    Jesse's 20L+20L fuge...

Well, tried to get a decent pic of the shrooms... this is about as good as I can do for some reason... And a couple updates. I picked up an old cabinet that someone had out by their trash. It is made of solid plywood... the sides are 1/2" and the back is 1" plywood.... yes you...

    jt10 picotope update

Looks good. Can I ask that you continue one of these threads instead of starting a new one every time? It just helps to keep the forums a little more organized and easier to search. Keep us updated. Jesse

    150w Hamilton Reefstar

I had a reefstar and that never happened to me. However, it would take a good 5 min before the lamp would reach 100% lit. that is the HQI ballast. Are you running the Hamilton lamp that it came with? What temp lamp? Jesse

Sponge Filter, Ceramic Rings, and Carbon?

A good quality carbon like Marineland's Black Diamond should be used 24/7 and changed in small amounts every week as opposed to all at once every month IMO. Go with a granular carbon rather than a pelleted... better surface area and more appropriate pore size. The ceramic rings are bad for...

Sponge Filter, Ceramic Rings, and Carbon?

Actually, the bioballs are too effective, actually breaking down the ammonia into nitrates too quickly. Instead of relying on the "bioballs", rely on the LR for your biological filtration. Ceramic rings work wonderfully for freshwater tank, but will just lead to problems in a reef tank. Jesse

    hex 5 lighting ideas needed

Cyclopeeze and DT's phytoplankton are two of the best foods for the tank. If you have a phyto food... or any other filter-feeder food for that matter... that IS NOT refrigerated, it is of no use. and be very careful not to overdose the food. that can through things out of wack and lead to...

    MY SALINITY IS 1.027

RO or RO/DI is the best choice, although it is my understanding that distilled will work too. I would lower it slowly over a few days. I forget what size tank you have, but if you remove about a liter of water about a time and replace it with the RO water a couple times a day, it should slowly...

from what I have heard, the water from UCSB is safe to use even during red tide and storms. They must have different filtration or something. Jesse

Nudis killing technique.... Need your input, moderators too!

FWE worked great for me. Here is my documentation of my treatment: "I went down to the LFS, bought some FWE and then spent the next four hours in heated battle with the little bastards. I started out by draining about 5 gallons of the water out of my tank into a standard 20 that I have...

    hex 5 lighting ideas needed

That is going to be very hard to do anything with as far as lighting. That this is only like 11" wide from side to side right? And you only have a couple inches from front to back to play with. Wish I could help you out but I couldnt think of any retros or anything that would work on that...

    My 32g Reef

Is that a galaxia coral? If so, keep it as far away from all the other corals as possible. those things have crazy sweepers. Nice pics, but like Trogdor said, something seems a little off with the colors. Jesse
