1.6 Gallon Hex, my first nano...

Off to a good start. I'm running one of those Res Sea filters on my 2.5 as well. Works pretty good. I would suggest purchasing a few test kits for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate so you can tell when your tank is done cycling. Your readings for all of the above should be near zero then most of...

    transfering a tank

Yes, I agree with incysor. I'd monitor water parameters pretty closely with the new tank. You will still have a mini-cycle. I guess you will also need to be upgrading the lights?

    Algae ID

I've had these from time to time in my 20 gallon tank for over 2 years now. They are very interesting and have a nice neon yellow/green color to them. I've also seen them in other people's tanks. I was wondering if anyone else has these growing on their liverock and does anyone happen to have...

    advice for newbie

Hi simgirl and welcome to nanotank! If you are going to use her live sand and purchase some cured LR from your LFS, you will indeed be speeding up the cycling process considerably. What I would recommend it that you purchase a few test kits for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. These tests will...

    Transporting Shrimp Long Distance

I would think it would be okay but it does have risks. Just curious - did you collect the acros in Mauritus yourself? I was there for a week about 3 years ago. Awesome diving and snorkeling. I love it there.

I forgot that this place even existed until a friend went there a few weeks ago. Anyone been recently? Worth the visit?
