I was at a LFS store here in SA a few weeks ago and I got into an argument with their saltwater manager. He swore up and down that clams didn't need phytoplankton when I asked what he fed his. He said he's read every book on clams in their store and that phytoplankton would 'choke' them...

Yeah, I've got them all over my tanks. Probably 20 or so a least. I don't think mine have ever bothered anything.

Wahooooo...got it fixed. It seems that my host's mod_security for Apache was filtering out whole CC thing. Changes have now been made. It works! :mrgreen:

Yep, just part of the normal cycle. You can syphon some of it out if it gets really ugly. I'd just let it go. You can also reduce your photoperiod some during the initial cycle to reduce algae outbreaks.

I've seen both used quite a bit. I think it might just be preference...
