    Salt Mixing for Nano Tank

Here's my process: Fill bucket up with tap while adjusting the temp to around 80°F Add 1/4 cap of Prime (water treatment) Add ~1-1/2 cups of salt Place powerhead and mix until water is clear and no salt on bottom Check with refractometer Remove water from tank Add new water Total...

    Nano wish list

Everything looks good. Don't forget a refractometer. I wouldn't skimp on the salinity test device. You will be glad to get a refractometer. It's much more accurate and less prone to user error. I can't comment on the tank since I have never purchased an all-in-one tank but the T5 lighting...

12 Gallon Aquapod (first saltwater tank)

I doubt the clown is munching on them. They aren't really a coral muncher. Do you have any flat worms?

    Aptasia

Yeah I'm not sure why he attacks the peppermint. He doesn't bother the 2 other shrimp that i have but I think it may be the order in which I added them. I added everything except the peppermint before I put in the 6 line so maybe he is getting territorial now that he isn't the newbie of the...

    new biocube 29 help!

Welcome to Nanotank 1. A device to measure the salinity in the tank. There are many such devices ranging from a float hydrometer to a refractometer. I highly recommend the refractometer. They are very accurate and are less prone to user error. Most have temperature compensation so no...

    Sixline Wrasse and Peppermint Shrimp

I know this will depend on the fish's temperament but has anyone had any issues adding a peppermint shrimp with a sixline wrasse? I introduced the sixline after I had the following; 2 clowns, cleaner shrimp and a glass anemone shrimp. He faired well with them and only harassed the clowns...

    Controlling temperature

Just so you know my target temp is 81-82°F. Although during the summer it stays between 80-84ish°F. Large temperature swings can be stressful but I wouldn't worry too much if they are self-propagating. If you want to bring your temp down you can install a fan in the hood. I have put...

Can I Keep a Clownfish in a 8 Gallon Nano?

You can keep a clown in an 8 gallon setup. I'm not sure with the anemone though. I would wait atleast 6 months after setting it up to add an anemone if you do add one. This will let your tank's parameters to settle out and be pretty easy to take care of by then. I have a typical clean up...

    DIY AC 70 fuge

it appears that the baffles stop near the top of the pump and u-tube. From the photos, it looks like the water should flow up and over the baffle, through the filter. Dunno if that is right but that's the best I can suggest.

Can someone take a look at this?

I finally came across a photo of this guy. It appears to be a Glass Anemone Shrimp. It's pretty hard to see in the photo but the claws match along with the color patterns. http://www.marinedepotlive.com/glass-an ... hrimp.html

    Mandarin

good job. the reason that it is suggested that a large tank is required is to make the tank self-sufficient. A large amount of live rock is needed to harbor the pods to reproduce and keep up with the mandarine's dietary requirements. If you can get one to feed as you have then you have done a...
