My zoos aren't opening...
I bought them and they opened beautifully for a couple days...
And they they stayed closed for a while...
I still saw a lil Orange of their color...
I gave them to My bf to put in his 110g tank to see if they'll do good in there..
In My tank..I had them with good lighting and good water flow...

We would need a bit more info, like water parameters and type of lights used. I'm not a zoa guy but maybe Ed could chime in.

The lighting I have is the one that came with the 6g Nano Cube....
18 Watts i think it is...
I'm testing My water today...
It's in My bf's tank though and his water is fine, but they're not opening and he has a 110g with 300watt lighting!

neither one of those tanks would be considered "bright" tanks (for example my 125 has 625 W and is mod light at best) but they may be able to house zoas up high and in good flow...... not enough info to determine the prob though.......

Hmm, maybe you could up the lighting so your zoas open up? I'll be using 80 watts on 10 gallons and that may not be enough for zoas to have great color. Maybe if I put them up higher. Let us know how the zoas are doing. Maybe in a couple of days they will open in your BF's tank.

Well the zoos tend to be like a warning sign if something is wrong happening but not always .....can be water quality or something is stressing them.....but not always......and about the light i dont think the light might be a problem cause some like strong & medium light but eventually they adapt to the new lighting provided..... and well all i can say leave them in the middle of the tank with some flow...and dont keep moving there to here or to boyfriends etc.... just let them be...in a place and eventually they will open..... although.... i had a bad experience i got some like you.... a place them in other area they got pissed an didnt open so i put them were they were so i was ok 1 week later of the 25 ish polyps only 2 open so i was ok little by little will be happy 1month later nothing....i couldnt find any problems with it water or pest...nothing so i didnt have nothing else to do than dump them....(and well i wasnt attach to them so much) so there u go thats all i can say .... and well other times eventually everyone open in a week...so if i were u give it a time in one place and if not opens in a month bye bye Mr. stubborn zoo's

I went to the petshop to test my water and they said My water is fine...the zoos have been in My bf's tank for a while..we haven't touched them at all...we just placed them on the top of his tank with good water flow...=) we're just waiting...

And I know My tank isn't bright....I was just saying that My Bf's tank is brighter than mines..sheesh I think 300w is good enough for a 110g tank. He doesn't want the electric bill to be high! lol

I just have to let you know that 300 watts of light is relative. On a 20-30 gallon tank, that would be considered high-light. On a 110 gallon tank, that is low light... even low-light corals would need to be placed at the top of the tank. A 110g is like 24" tall... even 150 watt MH would struggle to reach that depth... most people would consider about 750-1,000 watts or much more than that to be about right for a REEF tank of that size.

I would also have to assume that if there is only 300 watts, that means that he is running regular fluorescent lights... those cannot penetrate hardly any depth.

Thats all the members were referring to.

I hope everything works out for your zoas.

Jesse

p.s. It is guaranteed that you will have a large electric bill with that size tank... I have about 250 watts of electricity pulsing through my 20L... 150 of those coming from the lighting alone.
