my zoa's have what resembles chicken poxs. they are closed and have white dots all over them. they dont stay closed, it takes them alot longer to open. the dots cant be rubbed off, they look internal.

anybody have an idea? ill try to get a pic later.

Erik,

I was very intersted in this topic even though I never ran into the problem. I read everything on reefcentral that Jesse posted and was more educated about zoanthids. Everything that I read came to the conclusion of fraging the healthy polyps and disgarding the infected area  Everyone stated to do multiple iodine dips and FW dips too but it seems there was no success. In my opinion to do that many dips may stress out the healthy poylps and you'd loose the colony! I feel cut your losses and have atleast some healthy polyps to start a new colony. Sorry that you had to go through this....

Calfo once suggested trying an antibiotic such as maracyn in a dip... but even that is not usually successful. I asked myself, "is it worth keeping this frag? If I keep it, I could lose all or most of my others..." So I threw out my favorite orange frag.

I might have the same problem. My zoa's have never been the same since them damn nudi's. And when there out of sight, they take about 2 to 3 hours just to open and they don't even open up to their full size. They look stressed and unhappy. I frequently blow whatever dirt or specs they have. It's hard because I don't wan't to get rid of them and I still think there's hope.

Nice link Jesse. I'm leaning towards Tetracycline or iodine. I'm going to read more up on it though. My schedule is hectic. Would it be best if I dipped my LR as well? I hate moving everything in my tank especially once everything is settled and looking more "natural" but If it increases my chancces I'm willing to do it.
