I read the previous posts on this fish, but all of them seem to be from a couple months ago, and was wondering if anyone has recently kept a Yellow Clown Goby...... I got him for $9, and was wondering who has one in their tanks. I've already noticed he's a lookout....he likes to perch in the high places of the rockwork and even the corners of the glass......any updated personnal exp. with this fish???

I've had mine for a month or so. He's totally cool. NEver hides, eats well and putters about. He eats mysis and cyclops-eze, but not every time I feed my tank (about every other day).

Good fish!

They are very hardy and have cool layed back personalities... You'll really enjoy them.... Keep them out of SPS tanks because they like to nip at the polpys....

Clown gobies nip at SPS? I didn't know that one. Glad I was reading this because that was a fish I was looking at for my 20H and I plan on keeping mostly SPS in there.
Just looking in the Marine Fishes guide and it does mention nipping but it says not enough to cause bad damage so maybe this fish is a possibility. Anyone have personal experiance with these guys damaging the SPS?

It's not a good idea unless you have TONS of SPS in the tank. They may nip at the polyps, but they'll definitely irritate them by perching on them, so the polyps don't extend for feeding. In a large tank with lots of SPS, it probably wouldn't be much of an issue, but in a nano with less corals for it to perch on it could be problematic.

Hey, sorry to change the subject somewhat but are these guys good eaters in captivity? some other posts say they keep dying. And what about keeping them in groups, do you guys think getting a pair would be okay? (assuming they arent a true 'mated' pair)

They have been reported not to get along if they are not a pair in small tanks.

I wouldn't try it....I did try it at one point in a 55g. The new one lasted about 6hrs. I've never seen a mated pair before. It doesn't mean they don't exist, but if they're readily available, you'll usually come across them listed as such.
