Hi there. I have decided to turn my very basic five gallon quarantine tank into a beautifully planted nano tank, not a reef tank. However I think you'll be able to tell me if I just made a huge mistake.
The very basic hood that came with my used tank had a small bulb in it - I think maybe 5 or 10 watts of yellow /orange light. It's a screw in bulb.
I happened to have a 65 watt energy saver compact florescent bulb which fit right in. Now the tank is lit up beautifully!
The hood is hot where the bulb is but not to the point of melting. What are the odds that it will get to that point? Are there any other repercussions I should be aware of?
Thanks for any help!
