I have been looking for a desktop tank. 6-12 gallons.
Could you all please give me some input on what you think is a good tank and why?
I have been looking at: AquaPod, NanoCube, ViaAqua, Odesey, CPR. Has anyone compared the 6g AquaPod and NanoCube. I have not seen any of these in person. Does anyone know if one is better quality than the other?
Where do you purchase them?

Welcome!

First off, the only one I am personally familiar with is the nanocube. I dont know much about any of the others. But I can say that I would go with the biggest tank that will fit your needs. Between the 6 and 12, I would go with the 12. More water= more stability.

Others will be able to chime in with personal experience with the various brands.

Which nanocube are you familiar with?
How is the quality of the nanocube? Is it constructed well? functions?
Any problems with heat?

You should really take a minute and ask yourself what you would like to keep in the tank and then we could help you a bit more. Mainly because if you only want fish then you can have about 2 fish in the 12 gallon and not have any problems with heat (you won't need huge heat producing lights). If you want any coral then you have to make sure that you are providing enough light for them to live/grow/be happy, and that is where you will heat issues (normally fixed with fans or chillers). Look at some pictures and get an idea of what you would like to see in your tank and let us know. Mushrooms, ricordia, and zoas have some wonderful colors and textures and don't "require" massive lights and are fairly easy to care for. Fish if you want any should be small like gobies. www.liveaquaria.com has a decent listing of nano suitable fish as does the fish forum here. Hope that helps!

Thanks Jennie
In my origninal post I was asking about equipment. I'm looking for a good quality tank. I understand your question about what plans I have for the tank and what I plan to keep in it and why you ask.
I have been in this hobby for a number of years I started my first reef tank a 55g in 1991 and have a 75g which has gone through numerous revision for over 13 years. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about this hobby but I am not familiar with the quality of small desk top tanks.

How will asking myself what I would like to keep in a tank help you help me by telling me the quality of the construction of a tank?

Ok, well sorry from your email I took it that you where new to hobby and I personally do not like any of the "all in one" kits. I was going to suggest just getting a ten gallon and making it the way you want to house the coral you would like to see at your office. Won't make that mistake again. Good luck with your tank.

I agree...
I haven't been impressed with the "all in one" tanks I've see so far.
But I dont' like the shape of a standard 10g for a reef and I don't really feel like building a tank plus I wanted a bow front.
oh well...

I'm just curious why you say 12 gallon minimum...
Is it becuase of temperature fluctuations that a 6 gal can have before a 12 gal?

Yeah!! you right smaller the tank ... harder to keep it stable and alot of ups and down...and well less space to stock with nice corals... and well i always thought that a 12g is just the perfect size not too big nor to small  ...
