When your neering trouble?

Besides the norm, Testing,water changes, Salinity, Things dieing, How can you spot a problem, Or no your about to encounter a problem? Is their sighns to look for other test? Just trying to get ahead of the game! Dealing with swinging salinity levels right now in my 12 gal Nano. Lost a pep shrimp yesterday. Water tested fine, but salt was .020 . Have it at a .023 for now. Thanks ahead of time.

Dealing with dropping salinity is unusual...usually it is rising salinity that is the issue. Do you use a hydrometer or refractometer to measure your salinity...sometimes a hydrometer can be rather inaccurate.

I think you covered all the bases as far as spotting a future problem. sometimes things like ich are a secondary effect of other things like rapid changes in temp, pH, salinity, etc. Also, if your corals arent opening fully or arent opening at all, this COULD be a sign... keep in mind that this is normal once in a while with some croals though.

Water temperature is also something to monitor. I'm fighting that issue right now as it gets hotter.

You mentioned yesterday your salinity was .020 and now you have it at .023, you never want to make such rapid changes because they stress the entire tank. If you need to adjust a parameter like this do so over a period of a couple of days.
