Yeah, might be a bad section to have.
How I orginally got into nano tanks. Well I stumbled upon nano-reef.com, and really tweaked my interest. But my wife told me no.
So we look to get a 5'x2'x2' 150 gal tank made along with it being acrylic, also get a stand, a canopy, MH lights, refugium/sump, closed loop system, Kalk reactor, Calium reactor, overlarge skimmer for it, auto top off. Well Kevin priced it out for me for him to build it, and all I can say was wow, big chunk of money. So Stefanie looks on RC at other tanks and ask how much it would be to get a 2' cube, so I price those, which since it is no longer a standard size, it cost almost as much as the 150 gal glass tank.
So we rethought it, decide the 120 gal would be better, got price for a glass one with Kevin making all the other stuff for me, looked good, still going to cost 2k for all of it at once, but we had the down payment for it all, and Kevin said he let me make payments as I actually need the reactors.
Money has a funny way of leaving when you least expect it, and thats what our downpayment did.
So Stefanie being the lovely wife she is, told me I could get a smaller one, since I had been waiting 16 years to get into Saltwater. (Parents made me wait til I got out of the house, at which time I got married, and Stefanie put the stipulation of waiting for a house.) So now I got the 29 gal, it doesn't have reactors on it, so everything is done by hand.
My 29 gal is set up for SPS, it has a 150W DE 10K MH, with a 24" URI VHO Super Actinic, and 7x 470nm LEDs for moonlights.
I use a Rea Sea Prizim skimmer, and a TetraTec PF 500 for a refugium (and don't recommend anyone else do it), been modded to make it work.
3 power heads but they may be upgraded later: 2x Maxi Jet 900s, and 1 Maxi-jet 400.
I currently have LPS, SPS, zoas and pulsing xenia on ~40 lbs of live rock.
Cheato is in the refugium.
I will post the pics of the stuff in the photo forum under my main tank pic.
