What in the world is a ZOO?

Ok..not the place you go to see animals.. but the coral ZOO? I have seen them mentioned several times and I have NO IDEA what they are... I have to admit..I dont know much on corals ect and I plan to get a book on corals tommorow..but its killing me..what ARE THEY?

zoanthids.....a polyp coral, they come in colonies. very colorfull and easy to keep. im a big zoa-addict.

:lol: @ Brandon..... yeah as ERIK mentioned zoo is a term we use to identified the zoanthids.... can also be called like zoa or the big version of it palys or palythoa well those are the ones more used ... like in my avatar thats a BAM BAM ZOANTHID= ZOO

Hopefully I won't get strung up for saying this...but I don't really like zoas. I much prefer frogspawns, hammers, bubbles, etc. Never really saw the attraction. :::quick! must hide...I think I hear Ed loading a shotgun:::

I dont blame you cause i like those stuff too and that including the xenias why cause on how they move , really wavie stuff but i dont like them as much cause their colors are limited really and i wanted to have all kind of colors so thats when love of zoas started seeing all those different colors in particular corals... i also like sps & blastos but out of my budget :lol: and light even though im upgrading to MH i still like more zoas :mrgreen:... but my next tank project will be a 6g NC with only wavie stuff.... xenias,frogspawns, torch, GSP & yellow polyps...

:chop: ahhhhhh he's after me!!!! yeah I gues the coloration is limited to the "wavy" coral I like but you toss in a red open brain here, a blue mushroom there, and some GSP to get a bit of color.
