I just got a 12g nano that been cycled for over a year. I have been putting a drop of iodine in every third day. What else is great to add to the tank to maintain the proper levels as well as to promote coral growth?

IMO, test your water first before adding anything...if your calcium levels are low then add whats needed. Basically you could add anything to promote coral growth but do a water test first for such and such before adding beneficial chemicals. Fair enough?

You shouldn't be adding anything you don't have a test kit for. Otherwise it's easy to get things out of balance.

My work nano hasn't had anything added to it except food since I started it nearly a year ago. The weekly 1g water change has been enough to keep things healthy and thriving. So you may not need to add anything.

The most common additives are calcium, buffer, magnesium, strontium, iodine.

Be careful with iodine, especially in a nano. A little goes a long way.

The rule is to test for everything you are adding. In most cases Ca, Alk and possibly Iodine are the only things you will need to add and thats only if you aren't doing weekly water changes.

Test, dose and test again.
