Weird question about water...

When I pour in some fresh RO water, to top off my tank or to lower the SG, I see a strange effect when the fresh water is poured into the tank... the water looks strange... sort of oily looking as it mixes with/hits the tank water. Does anyone know what that is?

I notice the same thing. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that the density of the RO is different than the SW and that's what creates this 'effect'

Yep, that's basically it.

Since the specific gravity, and salinity is different between the two, and the tank is well lit, you can see the reaction as the water tries to mix.
