Water Level Problems

Hey all I was just wondering if anybody else may be having some problems with the water level in the 29 gallon bio-cube. I was having some problems with having to add water every couple of days,I then moved my carbon filter in the right chamber and it seemed to have corrected the problem. I wanted to check with the group if anybody else may have experienced the same problem and what other suggestions people may have.

29 GALLON BIOCUBE

I have been having this problem since Dec. 21st. I have removed everything from the mechanical filtration in chamber one, and the bioballs in chamber two, but tonight the water level in chamber two and three is extremely low. In fact the third chamber started spewing out bubbles. I am at a lost for what to do. Since I do not have any kind of filtration, i am plagued by debris floating around in my tank that looks like snow. This is very distracting since I observe everyone else's looking crystal clear. I am totally disgusted. Any time I try any type of filtration, the pump starts spewing out bubbles. Please let me know if you solve this problem.

I am not entirely familiar with these tanks, but I have seen some people widen the overflow area between the first and second chamber. If I rememer correctly, the area where the water spills over the first baffle in between the first and second chambers only runs about 1/3 the length of the divider. People widen that so that the water flows over about 1/2 or more of that divider.

If none of this makes sense, post a pic of the first couple of chambers and Ill show you. This may allow more flow and could possibly solve this problem.

I'm afraid that I have already widened the overflow to probably more that 3/4 and have not noticed any appreciable improvement.

JESSE-WATER LEVEL PROBLEM WITH 29 GAL BIOCUBE

I just did a 20% water exchange tonight so I decided to add an additional 2 gal. of water to the 2nd chamber to see what happened. This may have solved the problem. I thought that the three chambers would be self leveling but, obviously not. The second chamber is now at a higher level along with the pump chamber. I even added the mechanical filter back in the first chamber without a problem as yet. I will keep you posted to see if this lasts. Maybe you can offer this solution to all the others that are having this problem.

Hey J.D just wondering if there was any improvement when you added that extra 2 gallons to the second chamber.

BIOCUBE FILTRATION

Yes, the problem has improved as long as you don't let the water level drop too low due to evaporation. Also, you can't let the mechanical filter get too dirty or the water level in the second chamber will drop too low. I have to keep them clean by running water through them, almost daily. I did put a unit of ChemiPure in the middle chamber.
