I forgot...what do you recomend about the hours per day? Sould I start off constant and work down or just stay constant?

Sorry. What I am trying to say is how many hours a day should a UV be run on a reef tank? I was told at one point they can strip to much from the water. Is this true?

I run my UV 24/7 days a week. There has been no negative effects on my reef from this type of exposure.

Some run it during the night and off during the day; but this amount of on and off is bad for the the bulb.

And yes it will destroy both good and bad bacterias that pass through the tube. It doesn't know the difference between good and bad.

My philosphy is that the good bacteria stay deep within the sand and the live rock. Any excess is lost in the water column via the sterilizer.
