upgrade kit

My tank will be here in a couple days! :strip

I want to start off right and order an upgrade kit for the lighting. Stock lighting is 2 x36 watt CF's.

The kit from nanotuners.com adds another 36 watts. I have never retro fitted lighting before and will be asking one of my LFS to install.

However, there are some options I have no idea about, and I'm weary that nanotuners.com will of course just try to upsell.

The two I"m confused about is the cooling fans and the adapter. Are more fans better? Or will that cause unnecessary evaporation? And why would I care what kind of adapter I have, lol?

Cooling fan options are:

-Standard
-Increased
-SilentX 16 db pair
-SilentX 8 db pair

Adapter options are:
-12v/500mA
-Variable 3-12 v/1200mA

There are options for extra LEDs (the tank has 2 stock LEDs). I don't see why I should get more, BUT I did read some of you keep LEDs over your liverock/macro algae chamber. Is that necessary?

Thanks again everyone! :)

Fans can help keep the heat from the bulbs from increasing the tank water temperature. There should be no increase of evaporation as the hood is sealed and the fans are just moving air across the bulbs, reflectors, and circuitry. The adapter is a variable so I imagine that means you could control the fan speed (thus the noise). I did get more LEDs, but I got the 3.1 LED setup that is independent from the tank for my macro algae. One thing I did do was to get the "fix" that puts my tank LEDs on a separate power cord so I can put my lights on a timer.

Are the LED's for your macro algae? I wasn't sure if they gave off the correct spectrum for that? Thanks for the ideas, those will help me along very well.
