Hey reefers,

Just wanted to give you an update on my SPS tank and my crocea clam. Back in January 05, I decided to push the envelope on what all reefers said would be a certain doom; SPS corals under PC lighting and in a 12 gallon cube...

Well, here I am 7 months later with all my SPS corals and clam living. I wanted to share pictures with you of my tank...

I took several angle pictures to give you the best view possible. I hope you guys and gals enjoy them and if you have questions feel free to chime in...

Sincerely,

Mike Guerrero

For all that would like to know what's inside the hood, I thought I'd take a picture of the engine; I run four 24 watt PC and one 13 watt fuge PC. Two of the bulbs are 50/50 JBJ lights while the other two are Realux true actinics... The fuge is 6,500 K daylight...

also very nice!
how much growth have you gotten in seven months (the one acro looks like it has some very good growth on the axial tips in that one shot)? I tried SPS's a long time ago under VHO and found that they tended to grow at the tips but they died back from the bottom - speculating, I thought this was because of the uniform nature of flourescent lighting. However that being said, today I believe a little differently. I think I lost mine not so much because of lighting but rather inadequete water flow. I think many people instictively look at lighting as the issue but I have come to believe that flow is as, if not more, important. I simply didn't have enough flow back then and the tips got water movement but the bases didn't. I have addressed both issues in all of my tanks since then.
again though - great job!!

Hey Reefers,

Here is an added picture of my SPS tank a little further back, helps to show the true size of a nano cube...

Babycakes, check out in general forum. My brother has everything in a holding tank, as he's sold the cubes since then. He's building a 72 gallon bowfront that is coming along very nicely.
