Updated 24g Nano Cube Pictures

Below are some updated pictures of my JBJ 24g Nano Cube. Most of the bad algae has gone away. Really strange. It came and left very quickly. It stuck around for about two weeks and then one day when I came home from work it was gone. The hard desirable algaes: purple and green flavors remain, which is a good thing.

In the above picture are shown button polyps (upper left) three gorgonians, cabbage, toadstool, one green montipora, a fast moving six lined wrasse fish, and a yellow tang fish. There are some other coral species visible too.

Front View of 24g Nano Cube
In the above picture are mostly shown cabbage, toad stool, and frogspawn corals. There's also a plant, which the tang likes to nibble on.

Right View of 24g Nano Cube
In the above picture we mostly see frogspawn and Kenya tree corals and a Carribean pigmy angel fish. There are some other types too. Can you tell what they are?
The Fission protein skimmer is putting a lot of air bubbles in the tank, and I noticed they are visible in the picture too. Look near the output of the sump and you'll see some white specs. Those specs are small bubbles. The bad algae is gone and believe the protein skimmer has helped in removing it, which is a good thing. I also added a $15 dollar submerisible pump that's hidden behind the rock (well except power cord, shucks, but I'm hoping the Kenya tree will eventually hide the cord, which I think it will in a few months). The pump isn't increasing filtration just circulation, which I think most corals in the tank like.

3/19/06 Tests:
PH 8.0
Nitrate 10 PPM (not bad for having fish)
Calcium 480 PPM
Phosphate .005 PPM
Specific Gravity .023
Ammonia and Nitrite undectable.

Your tank is looking good. The added circulation is usually a hit with the corals.

Thanks for the compliments. That is a cabbage coral left of the toadstool. It's doing quite well. I bought it over a year ago with only two branches. Now it has five branches with two new buds growing: soon to be seven. Like most corals each branch or polyp is its own organism. Nutrients are shared throughout the colony by the membranes that connect each branch. That's probably the hardiest coral in the tank. It looks good under low light and bright light and various water conditions. It's kind of a brownish coral with some hints of purple. Its unique shape is more pleasing then color in my opinion.

Below is an updated picture of my JBJ 24g aquarium. In this picture I've zoomed in slightly. From left to right are some purple gorgonians, green button polyps, green star polyps, blueish green button polyps, cabbage coral, mushroom coral, and kenya tree coral:

My coral seems to be doing better since I installed the in sump protein skimmer. I've had a few problems with the skimmer but it does seem help keep the bad algaes away.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, that's a cherub angel (aka florida keys angel, caribbean angel, pigmy angel). The tank has looked a lot better since I put in a fission skimmer in the sump. However, it stopped working a month after I got it. So, I returned it and got a new one, and recently the replacement is acting up: it's not creating as many air bubbles.

That's a toad stool coral. I don't know the scientific name. Actually, I have a frogspawn coral that's even bigger. It's already killed a flower anonome, which I really liked and hand fed. I didn't realize it was touching until it was too late. It's in the second picture from the top above. It's even bigger now. I try to keep it isolated but its growing so fast.

Nice pics! Do you ever have problems with your toadstool closing up? I had one for a while and it would always close on me and I could never figure out why.

imo you should take the tang out.. the tank is too small for a fish like that, they require very large tanks.

but it is a nice looking tank, nice corals
