unhappy xenia-sudden onset

ack! my beautiful blue xenia is all closed up and shrunken! actually, a small part of it is fine, but the rest closed today. it's been fine since i got it 2 months ago, and actually growing. i did a water change this morning, only a gallon or so, and re-added reef plus and some calcium. when i got home and noticed this, tested the water and calcium is in the range (about 410), pH where it should be (8.3), kH 300, no nitrite, nitrate safe (less than 20ppm), ammonia safe (.15 or so-added a fish the other day, hence the water change) so no idea! i don't have an iodine test kit, but nothing has really changed other than some water, and i've done water changed before with no problem. this thing was prospering and now poof! it's unhappy. i added one drop of lugol's (i only have a 29 gal tank) and since don't have an iodine test didn't want to do any more than that. i'm clueless! could the brief temp change when i added the new water have shocked it? BTW< all my other corals (zoos, yellow polyps, tree, yellow leather, star polyps) are fine! i love this xenia and my pet store hardly ever gets them. what can i do??? thanks, guys!!

Xenia is a very odd/finicky coral. It sometimes does this stuff on its own and can take days or weeks to go back to normal. It could be irritated due to something walking on it or picking at it. Have you moved it recently, or has it been in the same spot since you bought it?

i hadn't moved it at all, and didn't want to since I like where it is and it was doing well. i knew it had to be something relatd to me cleaning the tank. my guess is perhaps a piece of gravel got in there. i walked in the door after work wednesday and it was back, as good as ever! like i said, i tend to panic, perhaps needlessly, but you never know with this stuff. thanks for the help, once again!
