tube placement

Probably a silly question...but here goes anyway.

Where's the best position to place the actinic light tube over my new nano ? I have a 80 watt suspended m/v lamp 14" above the tank with the bulb positioned dead centre, but the problem is where to put the actinic...at the rear or at the front of the tank ??

Thanks,

Rich

Doesn't make much of a difference really. I'd do whatever works best for you....

Placing it closer to the front would change how you see the light in the tank...it would of course be bluer than if placed in the back.

Yeah, I switch mine from front to back all the time and I can't figure out which one I prefer still.

Hmmm...possible solution here. I have two 24" actinics left over from my old reef tank, so I think I'll put one across the front and the other across the back.

Problem solved ?????

If the tank has corals, you might want to consider if the corals come from deeper water. The light spectrum changes as depth of water increases. Actinic lighting benefits corals from deeper water.
