True Story!!!!! MURDER at 12G Nano Dr.!!!!

So i got a Crimosn Hermit crab, 4 little blue guys, and 2 snails. Cool, now ive got a total of 9 crabs and 2 window washers. I put everyone in the tank and everything is cool. I came home tonight and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :anxious Some one killed my first hermit crab. he looked like he was totally gutted. it was like a murder scene. Blood and guts everywhere!!! Ok maybe no blood but the guts were there. So im thinking, ok who the heck killed him. DAMN YELLOW TAIL DAMSEL!
That's it, the little bugger has got to go. First he beats up my corals and now he's killing the night crew???
So i call forensics and and they tape off the scene. We had to check and see who was still on the scene and a check shows everyone has an alibi.
Sure enough, i go to move the shell the little guy used call home and then out of the corner of my eye.......it moves. and so im thinking,..the poor little bastard isnt even gone a day and the other guys are just moving in on his turf. then the shell moves again!!! im thinking its a ghost and then ......there he is???????? what the heck????? How the heck?????
Who the heck????? Hermit Crabs moult??????
Well, i am glad he isnt dead. but can any one confirm that Hermit crabs Moult?

Yes, hermit crabs do molt.

They leave their legs and a little flesh behind, but your hermit sounds like it is still alive

I was actually really upset. Then angry. then in denial. Then everything made sense.....he is alive and cleaning again!!

Yeah, the molts look like dead bodies. :shock: You will even see some meat flapping in the breeze. First few of those and I thought my cleaners were gone. After counting shells I realized that they were all accounted for.

With time, you may want to get rid of a couple and add some empty shells or else you WILL see death... they can get pretty upset at eachother!
