transfering a tank

I found someone selling everything in thier reef tank.
I have a freshwater tank of the same size(20 gallon) that I was going to get rid of ths weekend to change to saltwater.
Wondering if she gives me all her sand, live rock, corals and critters with fish, and the water they are in (in buckets of bages)
Can i just put it all in my tank(after I clean it out of course)? or is there somthing else i need to do first,, I guess I should set it up with water and let it run a few days...then will it be ok to add everything? (assuming nitrates and all that is ok):?

You may get a small cycle from die-off with the move, even though it's a mature tank. I'd use about half of her tank water and half fresh saltwater. Then have enough saltwater made up to be able to do a couple large, (25%-50%), water changes during the following week. I'd also test every couple days so you can keep a close eye on the levels.

Yes, I agree with incysor. I'd monitor water parameters pretty closely with the new tank. You will still have a mini-cycle.

I guess you will also need to be upgrading the lights?

well this is what she says it has

"2 pumps for aeration, and a kick ass Current USA light for growing coral"

However i have a 20 gallon hex tank and wondering if it would work on mine, since mine may be deeper but not as wide.

Ok just talked to her, she has a long tank and said here woudl not fit.
suggestions for a light?

Hex tanks are often problematic to fit lights over....What are the actual dimensions for the space you have to put the light?

ok its 16 inches across the top and 20 inches deep

do you think this would be too much for my tank?
