I use crystal seas bioassay salt.

But if you're doing a nano or pic tank. It's generally easier and more convenient to just go buy salt water and RO/DI top-off water at the LFS.

If you're going to have larger tanks then having an RO/DI unit at home and making up your own saltwater makes sense, but it doesn't really for small tanks unless you live a couple hours from a LFS.

Down here where I live (Montreal, Canada) all the LFS's they are not so great with the Salt Water stuff, that’s why we have major problems finding what we need, I know it’s strange with a big city like this but.....

Ah. You might ask around on reefcentral to see if there's a store that other reefers in your area trust. If not then just go ahead and go the RO/DI route and go with any of the major brands of salt. Salt is one of those areas that opinions differ greatly on. I've only used Kent, and Crystal Seas salts. I won't use Kent again, I seemed to have a lot more algae issues when I was using it. Lots of folks like oceanic, and it seems to be in most of the stores around me. I'd take a look at your LFS and see what brands are readily available, and then post which ones you're thinking of using.
