Too much carbon?

Ok.. I have another stupid question. I finally ditched the shady HOB filter that came with my 3 gal pico and bought an Aquaclear AC20 and some Chemipure. The only size the LFS had of the Chemipure was the 10 oz./1 unit size. I know Mike Guerrero used only the 1/2 unit size in his pico and I was wondering if the 1 unit size is too much for a 3 gallon. Is it possible to over-carbon a tank? Also, will installing the new filter cause another cycle in my tank? I was running LR rubble and some carbon in the old filter and plan on using a foam pad and the chemi in the new one. Thanks in advance.

I wouldnt avoid the foam all together... the key is to keep it clean. the foam is one of the imortant factors of having crystal clear water, but if it gets dirty, it will do more harm than good possibly.

as far as overdoing it, I dont think that it would hurt anything, but you dont need to use more than a 1/2 unit. 1 unit is good for up to about 30-40 gallons.

Thanks for the help. I am going to have to take back the 1 unit anyway. There is no way I am going to be able to shoehorn that bag into an AC20.
