My toadstool leather hasnt expanded its polyps in about a week strait. Im pretty sure its because i didnt acclimate it to my new lighting so ive tried to start the acclimation proccess a week later. Im using the windo screen method to filter out alot of the light but it still wont expand. Any ideas anyone? What are the signs of it dieing?

they weird thing is when i got the new light it was expanding its polyps just fine the whole day and sometimes at night too.it was about a week and half after i got the new light it closed and never expanded again.

I have one of these little guys too. They seem to be rather tempermental. I know that mine doesn't like to be moved and it doesn't like too much current. As for lighting I don't know. I'd love to hear what people have to say about this as well.

my experience with all leathers is the same as Chris. They are *very* tempermental. When it's good it's good, and it can change quickly. One thing that many do not realize is that leather corals may shed when stressed. They aren't dying, even though they look like crap! However, when polyps do not extend for several days, it's a good idea to keep a close eye on them. Any sign of real dessication (look for holes in the main stalk, loss of structural integrity in other parts) then get them out fast.

i gave it some more flow, dosed a little iodine, and hoped for the best. Later that night it sloffed a bunch and when i woke up the next morning its polyps were out again. they have a green tint to them now also which i like.
