Toadstool Coral problem

Hi all

I have had a toadstool coral in my 20 gallon tank for several weeks and it has been doing fine extending and looking very healthy. It has close up before but usually only for an hour or so, but it has been closed up now for several days, it is in a coral frag which has holes in it I have notice today that there is a centipede like creature living in the holes under the coral and i wounderd if this might be eating or upsetting the coral. All ather residents are doing well, the coral is not being bothed by anything elsa as far as I can see. All my readings seem fine.

Any thoughts or advice woud be welcome.

Most toadstool corals will to this. It will shed a top layer and come back healthy and happy in a couple days. You can speed the process up if you can manage to get a bunch more flow onto it.

There are a bunch of different worms that live in or under rocks. I highly doubt that is what is bothering the coral.

Yea I agree with Jon. Sometimes your toadstools will molt or shed (this is what I call it) and it will have a thing layer of film over it... If you could put an over head over it and let it blow off or just use your hand and rubb it off. Your toad will look better in no time.... good luck.

You can also help the coral shed the film by using a turkey baster to blow water acrossed the top of the coral.

If the "centipede-looking" creature is a bristleworm..especially a FIRE bristleworm...couldnt that be causing an annoyance to the coral.
