"pods" is slang for copepod...tiny little beneficial crustaceans(?).
As far as Flatworm Exit, i treated my tank recently and havent seen any since then. Here is my documentation from another post:
I went down to the LFS, bought some FWE and then spent the next
four hours in heated battle with the little bastards. I started out by draining about 5 gallons of the water out of my tank into a standard 20 that I have laying around. This functioned as a coral/invert holding tank.
Once that was done, I took out every rock, blasting each piece with a power head to remove as many FW’s from the holes and crevices as I could, then placed it all in a bucket. What I was left with was a rather dirty, FW-covered sand bed.
I gave it a couple minutes to let everything settle, then when at the bastards with a airline, sucking as many out as I could. I did this 3 times.
Confident that I removed as many FW’s as I could, I placed the LR back into the tank in sort of a open pile in the middle of the tank so that the water current could flow through/around all the rockwork. I had a power head flowing across the back of the LR, and one flowing across the front of the LR.
After the temp in the 20g holding tank was the same as the 16g, I placed the corals back into the 16g.
I filled the tank back up to the top. I set up my HOT magnum (including carbon…just in case), and after cleaning all power head and my skimmer, I added the recommended 1 drop per gallon…plus some.
Within just a couple minutes, I began to see dead and dying FW’s floating around. I never saw many FW’s collecting on the bottom or anything, so I was never concerned about the toxins that were released by the FW’s.
Now, 2 days later, and no sign of a single FW.
This rock used to be the most infested piece…now there is no sign of a single FW.
BTW…all my corals were fine throughout the whole process. They were all open and appeared normal. I also have a full population of copepods. So overall I am very pleased with the product.
I am going to retreat the tank this evening with another full dosage , then on Saturday I will perform a full 30% water change.
From now on I will use FWE as a dip for all new frags…these things have been the single largest pain in my ass…worse than bubble algae, cyano…all of it.
***NOTE*** I CANNOT SUGGEST THAT ANYONE TREAT THEIR TANK USING THE METHOD THAT I DESCRIBED ABOVE. I INSIST THAT YOU FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS ON THE FLATWORM EXIT PACKAGE. YOU SHOULDN’T UNDERESTIMATE THE NUMBER OF FLATWORMS IN YOUR TANK, NOR SHOULD YOU UNDERESTIMATE THE AMOUNT OF TOXIC JUICES THESE FW’S CAN EXCRETE.
