The Red Bug

Well after all of Johns warnings about dipping my corals before I put them in my tank I still didn't do it. I did buy it. Just didn't use it.

My new acro has the red bug. It's currently soaking in a tub with Seachem's reef dip coral disinfectant. Will this kill the red bugs?

it may of helped but the standard treatment for red bugs is intercepter - go to the SPS page on RC and you will find many threads on it. you only have the one so it is not a big deal though as red bugs can only live on acros - the prob is when you have a display full and then bring in an infected coral. if you can't get intercepter i'm quite sure julian sprungs coral dip will get rid of them but have never had any bugs to try it on - crustaceans hate that stuff and red bugs don't have eggs so get rid of the adults and prob solved

Yeah I started to read about the interceptor over there and it freaked me out. That's the one that's for dogs and will kill all my crustateans right. I've got to get a prescription from a vet for it right?

After the dip last night I did see a lot of them floating off and dieing. Lots floating around the tub. very hard to see. I'm going to wait a couple days see if I can find anymore and then I'll move on to that one. Or I'll look into the Julian sprungs dip that you mentioned.

Thanks.
