The honeymoon is over...

My new gorgeous feather duster that I bought yesterday is AWOL. He was fine last evening and night, but this morning, his tube is vacated and he's no where to be seen. I do have a lot of nooks, holes, grags, etc... in my rocks. Plenty of places to hide... but he's nowhere to be seen. I am crushed.

The good news is that the star polyp and button polyp frags that I bought yesterday are very happy today.

I looked as far inside the tube as my angle of vision would allow me to see and I didn't see anything in the tube. I have not picked him up to look more closely inside yet. I think I'll wait a day before doing that, in case he is hiding in there. I don't want to tick him off more than I have to.

I'd just leave it alone. It's possible that it dropped the crown, and will grow a new one. Or it could just be retracted far inside the tube.

B is right, I have one, and it lost it's crown once, I didn't see it for a long time, then one day, it came out with it's new crown :)

Okay, I'll just leave it alone and hope for the best. The good news is that my new polyps are so happy! They are just smiling in the current. All open and waving away.

Yeah,

They will drop the crown, ditch the old tube and build a new one, given there is sand that they can use for construction.

Then out of no where, you will see him again,,,,

Okay, my errant little feather duster has resurfaced. He's in his old tube (probably never left it -- just ducked out of sight). I'll have to learn to relax more with the goings on in my reef tank. He did move, though, a little bit. His direction and angle are slightly different from where I initially put him. And, I had buried his tube lightly under sand and it's out of the sand now.
