okay Im thinking of disconnecting my vhos and adding T-5s. if i use my current ballast (ice cap 660) I can run either 2 T-5 and 2 vhos or 4 HO T-5s. Im mainly looking for T-5 only.
Which would you do - 300 watt vho (im currently doing this) or
4X24 watt T-5 HOs (144 watt)

I cant ever make up my mind about lighting.

even though the t5's are getting a lot of good review the general consensous seems to be that VHO has the best actinic available - over both PC and t5 so but the t5's have great "white" bulbs - so I guess its looks and wattage that you'll have to decide between

I would contact Icecap with this question but I have only been able to find wiring diagrams for up to 4 bulbs. Their e-mail address is www.icecapinc.com . HTH, Skip

I'm running four 48" T5 bulbs on an Icecap 660. I think you can run 2,3 or 4 bulbs, but 4 is the most common. From memory, I think that a 660 pushed four 48" tubes at 80W.

They're DARN bright with the SLS reflectors. I've got them over a 120G tank and the 4x54 (80W?) bulbs are FAR brighter than the 2x250W halides that I used to have over the tank.
