I think you are absolutely correct. I have checked several Web sources and it certainly appears to be a Synchiropus stellatus.
Never believe what you are told in fish stores. :roll:
I noticed at first that it didn't appear to eat much if any food that it was offered. Now, I am glad to say, it has developed an appetite for prepared food.

Thats good, i didnt want to worry you and say that they have a diet similar to a mandrian dragonet. Its great to have a cooperative fish!
