Stressed clownfish

I just bought a clownfish from my LFS this evening, and it looks like the drive home might have stressed out the little guy. He looked a little pale when i took him out of the shopping bag and placed his little transport bag into my tank. Right now, he's not moving much and is just chilling at the bottom of his bag while I'm acclimating. The drive was about an hour long, and I'm afraid it might have stressed him out a little bit. He even pooped quite a lot. Is he going to be okay? I hope so. I'll keep you guys up to date on his condition.

I remember when I bought my clowns they did the same thing, and by the next day they were out and about checking out their new home. Curious little critters.

Transporting and new tanks are very stressful for our little guys ...He should recover but you may wish to take a few steps to help aleviate his stress.....when adding a fish to our system we drip them in a dark container for about an hour this gives the water a chance to triple in volume and gives a good slow chance for the fish to acclimate to the perameters of your tank .( the container we use is a pitcher wrapped in tinfoil to darken it and the room lights are off all but a 20 watt nite light just enough to see by , the pitcher is then placed into a dish pan and allowed to over flow there this way we dont have to stress him by dumping water and we dont worry about forgetting it and having a mess on the floor) .....we usually add our new inhibatints at nite time then when we place him in to the tank we keep the lights off for the night and the room is pretty much dark for the night any way just short of the moon lights that are on ....this give them a chance to see their new home is "safe" and theirs then in the morning I turn the lights on just as I normally would ... later that evening I offer some food and dose the tank with a few drops of selcon .........so far it has been a good method for me

Another thing you can do to keep from stressing your new fish as much is to transport them in a cooler, this helps prevent heatloss and is dark to help keep stress levels at a minimum. I have a couple of small coolers I use just for fish and coral transporting.
