Hi there .. my first post

I am buying an Orca TL450 as a beginners tank for my teenage son and was wondering if you could give advice on some stocking options. ie what types of fish, numbers of them etc .

It's my understanding that a small tank like this coud not handle too many fish or critters without loading the bio..

I was thinking that 2 maybe 3 fish and a few critters. Please advise

:welcome to nanotank.com!

Here is a NANO FISH GUIDE that should help you figure out what kind of fish and how many. With that tank you are going to be limited to about 2 small species. Also, the lighting on that tank would be considered "low-light" so keep that in mind when selecting corals (if you decide to go that route.

Many thanks the guide is a great help.

Will we be able to get replacement light bulbs to improve it for coral?

As far as the lighting goes, you would have to upgrade the ballast also. You could do it. Just keep in mind that if you increase the watts, you will want to increase the air flow as well by adding an additional fan or two.
