starting new tank have question

i have a 240 gallon acrilic tank that i want to set up with coarls soft and hard was wondering what lighting would be correct for this tank set up if you need the demensions the tank is 30 inches deep thanks for your help

At least 250 MH suplemented with VHOs. Id probably go with 400 watters though. I like the 14,000k temp bulbs that are out there. If it were my tank and I wanted SPSs and other light demanding stuff, i would put 4 250's or 3 400's and like 4 VHOs. Then again, I dont have much experience with large tanks like that. Just note that anything other than halides is going to be rather useless on such a deep tank if you want to keep anything that is light demanding.

I would use apair of 250 watt HQI DE MHs, the studies that have been done by Sanjay Joshi comparing the 250 HQIs with 400 watt MHs have shown that the 250 have a higher PAR value. Since you will be using 250 watt bulbs it will cost less to light the tank. HTH, Skip

PS I would still supplement this with VHO actinics.
