Hello, everyone suggests i start off with damsels...but from everything i have read people say they are very territorial and would be very difficult to add any another fish after them due to territorial issues. what would be another good fish to add after iv cycled the tank with live rock? and how many can i add to a 12g jbj nano. should i add inverts first? or fish? also what would be good coral to start with with my tank??

Though my tank isnt running yet, chromis are a more passive version of damsels. They're from the same family but not nearly as aggressive. They are what I'm starting with in my 28g tank, then a few snails/shrimp. I dont think that chromis would be happy for long ina a small tank though, they prefer to school(and look great in a school), but they might be ok while they're still small. You could also look into adding a goby first, a fairly hardy and forgiving of mistakes kind of goby.

You probably shouldnt add corals or inverts first, they're more delicate and require better water conditions than most fish do. But soft corals are better for beginners and require less lighting. Zoanthids and colt corals are probably the easiest to maintain.

What type of inverts are you looking into?? The cleanup crew variety, or like anemoes and urchins??

The best order is to put your more peaceful inhabitants first then put your more aggressive fish in last. It is ok to put in inverts before fish, just make sure your tank is fully cycled.

well im not sure really if they are compatible i just read slightly on them and i was looking at the skunk shrimp and the one that wiggles is it the sexy shrimp? yea i think thats it... urchins i liked also and wanted one... maybe a slug or two and something that will stir up the sand a lil bit i still havent really gone to a site n made a list i should have about a week left for my tank to cycle. i just figured that people added the hardy fish after the cycle to ensure if the water is good or not but iv noticed its wen u first add the water. i posted a thread previews to this one but noone has replied on it yet. so do you think my choices are ok? or what might you suggest i put in .
