SPS...troubleshooing

Curious, I traded for a green slimer frag about a month ago. It was kind of brownish green due to high nutrient system. Well, thats what he told me, but Its been opening nicely in my tank and has greened up big time. I have noticed the tips of the coral are now light green leaning toward green/white...

Is this a sign of bleaching, growth or what? I can't seem to find any info searching the web, so I am hoping some of you have experience with this coral or acro's in general..

Usually a sign of growth. Any pictures? What kind of lighting etc was the coral in before and what do you have going on in your tank?

tips are almost always lighter (or colored in the case of some) then the main body of acros - generally a good sign when it is on the growth tip. my slimer has very pale green growth tips
good job getting it to color up

I really don't know what anything of the params of the tank the coral came from. I got it from a guy who broke down a friends tank that had let it dwindle to nothing according to him. I assumed the high nutrients meant he had high nitrates.

I have 175 xm 14k halide running in my tank. I had to ask, cause it didn't seem right for it to show any growth after such a short time in my tank. Expecially since I am having low mag. and calcium issues in my tank. I will try to get a pic..although, my camera isn't good at macro's..

Thats what I was hoping to hear John...Thanks....the coral is still a darkish green but amazingly different from when I first put it in the tank..

Jesse...
Here are a few shots of soft corals growin for me..the water isn't very crisp due to a diamond goby always messing around spitting sand.

Ok, my camera really bites at macro's so this is as good a shot I could get. You can see what I was referring to.

Its the only lamp I have used, so I have nothing to compare it to. It seems bluer some days than others...but I do like it.

The corals look great and I agree that the white tips are just new coral growth.

Thanks guys for the kind words, I am just getting into the sps end...now my hammers, frogspawn are closely watched.....

The camera is horrible, but it takes nice shots of my kids...

If it comes down to bucks for tank or bucks for camera...I will be voting...tank..

It's johnanddawn, but somehow or another his account has been deleted. We are working on getting him back up.... hopefully sooner than later!

i got lost in hyperspace but think i'm back now - nice looking corals

slimers are def nice acros, not as spectacular as some color wise but very good growers with a nice stag shape - dependable first SPS's. mine took a beating with the constant luguls dips while i was trying to get rid of nudis, but is making a good comeback. the tips like yours are a blue-green almost white with a florescent glow
