Cyclopeeze is a favorite food for corals and inverts, it is available in frozen and canned forms. I use several different liquid foods in my tank, mainly the Kent product line. I try to add a different food each time I feed the tank so I am giving it some diversity.
I have seen the Purple up and have heard a couple of people say they liked it but I have no direct experience with it.

Never heard of it. I have uesd black powder it is a micro growth accelerator. Made by Weiss if im not mistaken worked well in my first reef tank. the store i used to get it at went out of business. and I havent seen it in awhile.

Seems like a waste of money. No substitute for time to get a mature looking tank. IMO dosing in a newer tank is a little risky. Extra nutrients you really don't need. Everyone's tank will "purple up" over time, so who can really say if it helped or not?

Besides, who wants to take a razor to their glass everyday even if it did work.

I have never used purple up but if you keep a correct level of Ca, with time you will probably have more coraline that you know what to do with.

I also second the Cyclopeeze... if you get the frozen bar form, there is no water in it so it doesnt get freezer-burned and lasts forever.

I too also use the Kent line of liquid foods. Feeding raw shrimp like you get from the meat counter at supermarkets works good for corals like open brains, cnady canes and other LPS corals.

the other thing I forgot to mention is that I've read that Purple Up is basically a Calcium supplement and that if they dose calcium or Kalk as well, they can mess up their levels.
