Snail ID

This is a bit of a long shot since I don't have a pic yet.
A hitchhiker snail, quite small. maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch long on the shell. The shell is light colored and flattened and shallow--the snail's body when moving extends far beyond the shell both front and back. This is a feature that makes it look quite different from the usual spiral shelled snails. It moves pretty fast, for a snail.
Any ideas?

Thanks, that's the boy. Reading up abput the species I was interested to learn that they employ the old lizard trick of shedding their tail as a distraction when attacked.
