I went out and bought a new skimmer for my 20g tank today, and have a few questions that i'm hoping someone can answer. I switched from a Red Sea to a SeaClone 100, and it's been set up for about 3 hours now. it kinda operates a little differently, the Red Sea was about 2 or 3 years old, so they've evolved in design and operation a little bit. I can't decide if i should leave the air-intake about 3/4 open, or a little more closed. Basically, i'm trying to figure out if i want more funnel action in the chamber, or less. i've tried to tone it down a little bit, to keep the number of bubbles on the low side, but this obviously reduces the GPH and speed of the funnel inside the chamber. Long story short; do I close the valve more, and reduce speed of the funnel in the chamber, with less bubbles, or open the valve a little more, to about 1 1/2 turns, with more funnel action and more bubbles??? I know this might seem a little confusing, but I'm hoping that either someone who has a SeaClone 100, or anyone else who can contribute helpful information, can give me some assistance. I lost a torch coral over the weekend, and since my water parameters are in check, and there were no signs of visible ailments, i'm assuming that my skimmer needed replacing. Anyone who can help me, please get the posts coming.
