I have a Remora and had a BakPak previously. I prefer the Remora hands down, it seems to skim much better, is quieter, and has a larger collection cup plus it doesn't use a Rio, instead it uses a MaxiJet 1200 (which is a personal preference). The only thing I wish were different is the size of the skimmerbox, I use the skimmerbox so the skimmer gets surface water so the oily film from the surface can be removed. The skimmerbox is fairly large but I feel that this is a necessary evil so I still prefer it over the BakPak.

i currently have the bakpak 2r. i like it, it skims well, but i think that i would go with the remora if i had it to do over again. i get too many bubbles entering the tank with the bak pak. im in the process of thrying to correct that.

I have the remora and box on my 35 - really pleased with it. One note if you have read my thread on that, I glued the box in with silicone instead of messing with the stupid little screws they send with it. I still get some bubbles but its minor.

i have my new 15tall setup right now and its cycling. will have pics soon.

When you get the skimmer make sure to wash it well with warm water, this will help shorten the break-in period. Skip
