Simple desk top lamp?

Ive got this very bright concetrated light lamp that is 60 watts flourescent?* but 14 watts in some other term...well Im just wondering If I could use this as the light source for my LR in my 5.5 aga? Im no into getting anything special just a fish and LR maybe some shrooms later. your opinion will be greatly appreciated :alice

I wouldn't put the shrooms in with that. I would use a 50/50 bulb for the shrooms, but FOWLR should be fine. JMO.

It also depends on the spectrum... there are some sdesklamps now that are in the 6,500k-10,000k range. However, it is probably a 14 watt fluorescent that they claim puts out the same light as a 60 watt incandescent... it is still only 14 watts of fluorescent which is not enough for any sort of corals in a 5.5g. if it is too yellow (6,000k or lower), then you will run into a little bit of an algae problem.

I agree that the lamp will work out fine but you may want to replace the bulb with a 50/50.

Yep then the ones Jennie pointed to should work fine. If you could find a way I would place two of those above your tank. JMO.
