Setting up a small Nano Tank

I like to think of Chemipure as a super carbon. It helps absorb polutants in our tanks making them a better habitat for our fish and corals.

RE:

Thanks for the info guys,

What type of carbon is the best for my AF-20? I have just been using the same kind it comes with.

Do I need to sponge too or can I remove it?

Thanks,

Eric

I am not sure that I am understanding your question completly but , I would just continue using the stuff that is for your filter. As I stated earlier I run th packs made for my hob and add a unit chemi-pure behind the filter pak .

RE:

Sorry I was trying to ask you if I should also remove the sponge from my AC-20 and just run carbon and chemi-pure?

Remember to clean your sponge a minimum of once a week and it will be fine to leave in there. If your filter came with the ammonia removeing resin (its usually white) take it out, it is for freshwater use only. Other than that you can use the carbon and sponge that comes with your filter or you can buy carbon in a bulb container and add it when needed.

You can open the bag and put some in a filter bag (available from your LFS) or use one of your wifes old nylons and put as much chemipure in as you need. There is also a half unit available but it seems like it is harder to find.

not here in CA... tongs have alot of does half units the only thing that im not sure is that if you have to rinse the half unit and then put it on the tank cause the half units come dry unlike the full unit comes with some liquid..... anyways i didnt rinse mine and my water looks alittle claudy after adding it i hope it gets better tomorrow....

You should always rinse any media you put in the tank to rid it of any dust or fine particles that may be on it. If you read the jar you are supposed to rinse the full units of ChemiPure too.

the half unit should be wet just like the full unit
if they are dry I would not buy it JMHO.
yeah sadye i was worry about but i check like 10 or more different containers and they all seem dry except for the full unit that had water and if im not wrong i think in the 1/2 unit it said to rinse it but i think i skip that part cause im so stupid and dont pay attention of what im doing..does any one knows if they really come dry and also that i should use 1/2 of the 1/2 unit or is fine to use the full 1/2 unit??? also i change my 1/2 unit every 3 months....

but i dont think the full unit that comes wet doesnt need to be rinse out??? next time that i go to get my 1/2 unit ill read the instruccions more slow and carefully...and skipm i always rinse any medio or thing that i have to put in my tank is just that if im not wrong the 1st time that i used chemi pure the guy that recomend me to use it told me to just put it on the tank and also the full unit so i guess he didnt know that much cause a unit is too much for a 12g so next time ill pay more attention guys....

they are suppose to be wet . I use a full in my 7 gallon and see no reason that you could not use a full unit . Yes the full unit and half unit should be rinsed prior to use. Do not use the dried out chemi pure, the one guy at dick boyd says that the one eliment should be wet (I believe he called it a gel resin ) if it drys out it may or may not work ......
As with carbon media as well they should be rinsed.

I use a full unit in both my 12 and 6 gallon nanocubes with no problems. The only reason I can see that you wouldn't be able to use a full unit would be if you had alot of stuff in the rear of your nanocube. I run one sponge, the Chemipure and a small piece of Polyfilter in my first chamber.
